The groundwater level is low in the Banaskantha district, which is going down day by day.The district mainly depends on agriculture. The agriculture and Animal husbandry business is more challenging due to water scarcity.To solve the water scarcity issue, the Chairman – Shri Shankar Chaudhary always advocates the importance of rainwater and its storage.
Shri P J Chaudhary, Chairman, Galbabhai Nanjibhai Patel Charitable Trust (GNPCT) along with the BJSA team – is actively working on various activities to make Banaskanthathe greenest district in India under the guidance of Banas Dairy’s Chairman. The team selects various sites like lakes and deepens the rainwater catchment areas of the site.
The BJSA under GNPCT of Banas Dairy carried out deepening of 66 lakes under SujalamSufalamYojana of the Government of Gujarat in April-May, 2021. It is estimated that more than 96 crore liters of water will be stored across 66 lakes inthe district.It will also raise the groundwater level by 860 hectares of Banaskantha and Patan district, which helps the farmers in livelihood.
